Tiger Woods Is Back on the Golf Course

Things are looking up for Tiger Woods. Over the weekend, the 15-time Major winner shared a photo of himself on crutches with the caption “My course is coming along faster than I am. But it’s nice to have a faithful rehab partner, man’s best friend.” Accompanying him in the photo is his pup, Bugs. The golf course in question belongs to Woods. It’s the Jupiter Island Practice facility, and it’s in his backyard.

The athlete has been recovering at home in Florida after spending several weeks in a hospital following his car accident in Rancho Palos Verdes, California on Feb. 23. He suffered multiple, significant, orthopedic injuries that required emergency surgery. He had a rod, screws and pins inserted into his leg to stabilize his foot and ankle.

The accident occured on a notoriously dangerous stretch of road that requires drivers to carefully navigate steep curves. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Woods was driving almost twice the speed limit —84 mph in a 45 mph zone—at the time of the accident. His car hit the median and a tree then flipped multiple times before settling in the roadside brush.

Authorities said there were no signs that Woods was impaired, however they failed to secure a search warrant for a blood sample which would’ve detected any evidence of drugs or alcohol impairment. In 2017, Woods checked himself into a clinic for help dealing with prescription medication use after he was charged with a DUI in Florida.

Woods has said he didn’t know how the crash occurred and doesn’t remember driving. Earlier this month he released a statement on Twitter saying, “I will continue to focus on my recovery and family, and thank everyone for the overwhelming support and encouragement I’ve received throughout this very difficult time.”
