The health site continued: “It also helps in boosting energy levels, reduction in body weight; promotion of hair growth and fairer complexion.”

Harder erections

A 2011 study published in the journal Urology further investigated how watermelons can act as a sort of natural viagra, and help with erections.

Watermelons are rich in L-citrulline with the research evaluating 24 men who took L-citrulline or a placebo.

Researchers then rated the “hardness” of their erections.

It was found that men took the L-citrulline supplement, their erections were rated as harder than when they took the placebo.

Other health benefits from watermelons

“Watermelons help with prostate health and erectile dysfunction, thanks to phytonutrients like lycopene and citrulline.

Lycopene — also found in other red fruits and vegetables — plays a role in protecting against prostate cancer.

Research also suggests that lycopene may help reduce the risk of heart disease.

A recent Finnish study found that men with the greatest level of lycopene in their blood had a 55% lower risk of stroke.

Watermelon is also a good source of potassium, a mineral that helps maintain a normal blood pressure and helps muscles and nerve function properly.

According to Healthline, the research around watermelons isn't enough to prove that watermelon should be "your go-to-treatment method for managing symptoms of ED".
