Eden Taylor-Draper's sister discusses blood cancer symptoms

Sat side by side, the sisters spoke about the leukaemia diagnosis Eden Taylor-Draper’s younger sister received three years ago. Eden’s younger sister Francesca was aged just 14 when she found out. Now, she’s opened up about her symptoms on today’s episode of Lorraine.
“At the time of my diagnosis, my cancer cells were at 97 percent, so there were only three percent of my blood cells classed as healthy, “ Francesca told Lorraine.
She then talked about her symptoms: “I definitely did feel very tired and I lost quite a bit of weight.
“I was having really bad leg pains, excruciating, to the point where I couldn’t walk and I was having to leave school earlier.
“I also had this massive rash on my legs, which was when the doctors started thinking it could be something more serious.”

Francesca was then diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
This type of cancer affects white blood cells and is known to progress “quickly and aggressively”, requiring immediate treatment, the NHS reports.
“It was a massive shock. I don’t think any of us expected it,” said Francesca about the diagnosis.
Eden was at the set of Emmerdale when she received a call about her sister.
“We were on a tea break and they [Emmerdale production] just said ‘go, whatever you need we are here’.”
Eden then got a month off to focus on her sister’s recovery. So she was able to be by Francesca’s side when she was going through chemotherapy.
“The treatment started really fast and we didn’t have time to process it,” Francesca recalled about the time.
She said: “A lot of the symptoms were generic which was the scary thing about it.
“Because feeling tired and a little bit under the weather, your mind would never go to cancer.”
