Meratrim was created as weight loss supplement by testing various medicinal herbs for their ability to alter the metabolism of fat cells.

Extracts of two herbs used included Sphaeranthus indicus and Garcinia mangostana which were found to be effective in weight loss.

Both herbs have been used for traditional medicinal purposes in the past.

It’s been claimed Meratrim could help with weight loss by making it harder for fat cells to multiply, decrease the amount of fat that fat cells pick up from the bloodstream and helps fat cells burn stored fat.

In a study with the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health, Meratrim supplements for weight loss in healthy overweight subjects was investigated.

“The objective of this study was to assess the efficacy and tolerability of Meratrim in managing body weight in healthy overweight subjects.

“Sixty participants with a mean BMI of 28.3 kg/m2 were randomized into two groups receiving either 400 mg of Meratrim twice daily or two identical placebo capsules for a period of 16 weeks.

The study found significant reductions in body weight, BMI, waist and hip size were observed in the Meratrim versus the placebo group.

In another study with the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health, the efficacy of an herbal formulation for weight management was analysed.

The study noted: “The clinical effects and tolerability of a novel herbal formulation comprising the extracts of Sphaeranthus indicus and Garcinia mangostana were assessed in two similarly designed randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, clinical trials.

“Participants were randomized into two groups receiving either 400 mg of herbal blend twice daily or two identical placebo capsules.

“At study conclusion, statistically significant reductions in body weight, BMI, as well as waist and hip circumferences were observed in the herbal group compared with placebo.
