Besides their social media empire and their famous Keeping Up with The Kardashians reality show, the Kardashians are nothing more than transparent about what goes on in their day-to-day (and most times bikini-clad) lives. Lucky for us who often fantasize about the gorgeous figures they flaunt, the family’s transparency trait gives us an open window to peek into how they got those curves – their diets and fitness habits.
Here are some of the nutrition and fitness tactics the Kardashians have employed to shape their jaw-dropping figures. You should, however, make sure to get the services of a trainer, as some of these tactics may come off as downright crazy.
Rev Up Your Day With An Energy Boosting Breakfast
Without a doubt, breakfast is always a great way to start the day, and Kendall made it known that she loves to start her days with eggs, avocado, and oatmeal (all of which have made it to a research list of 20 Best Foods for Breakfast). Kim K likewise opts for scrambled eggs, oatmeal, or a protein shake with fruit to start her day. Seems like a family thing, don’t you think? Cynthia Sass, RD who happens to be a contributing nutrition editor, is also a big fan of kick-starting the day with an energizing breakfast to enhance your metabolism, as long as the breakfast includes only healthy rations of protein, fat, vitamins, minerals, fiber, etc. She further recommends a vegetarian breakfast of herbs and avocado omelet with a fruit side or a smoothie with fresh greens, other vegetables, fruit, protein powder, almond milk, and fresh ginger root. Sounds tasty already.
Get A Workout Pal
The general idea is that when you pair up, your fitness zeal is spurred to achieve your goal in record time (ahead of your partner). Think of it as a healthy rivalry. The sisters often work out side by side – at home, on vacations, and during private sessions with their celebrity trainer Gunnar Peterson. Khloe, who had at some point thought Kourtney was weak when it came to working out, found out much to her amazement that Kourtney was a hell of a fitness champion, and synchronized well with her sister. Sam Eastwood, a personal trainer, noted that having a dedicated workout pal can have tremendous benefits, such as accountability and encouragement. He goes on to say that partnering up with an even fitter person than yourself can go a long way in keeping up and getting you fit swiftly.
Red Line – No Sugar, No Soda
Kourtney has often exclaimed that she always tries to steer clear of sugar and soda. According to her, sugar is addictive and is more like a pseudo energizer, as it doesn’t sustain you when you need energy. She also noted that cutting out soda is a superb weight loss move that anyone can implement.
Drink In Moderation
Drinking has always been an issue to fitness goals, and despite the simple don’t drink rule, it doesn’t always seem to go down well with folks. Not all the Kardashian sisters are into drinking, which could be the reason for their perfect waistlines. According to Khloe, Kim does not drink alcohol at all, whether she’s pregnant or not. Kendall and Kylie are not into drinking, either. Kourtney, however, reveals that she drinks in moderation. She skips the sugary cocktails and sticks only to simple beverages.
Maintain a Healthy Salad Cycle
The sisters have the habit of always eating a certain bowl of greens on their reality show. In response to fans’ constant question of where their salads and yellow drinks are from, Kim tweeted a reply of a place in the Calabasas called Health Nut. Megan Roosevelt, RDN and founder of HealthyGroceryGirl.com, confirmed that their salads often feature powerhouse veggies and protein, with some avocado for healthy fat. Research has also shown that repeating the same healthy meals aids in regulating calorie intake, not to mention saves you the stress of making snappy decisions about meals.
Sweat Outdoors
In the past, Kendall has spoken about her love of running outdoors. According to her, running on a treadmill, though efficient, doesn’t compare to running outdoors. Besides that, working out frequently can eventually feel monotonous and suffocating, hence the need to get some fresh air outdoors. Likewise, research published in Gait & Posture revealed that stepping out of the gym and into the sunshine may enhance the burning of calories. The researchers noted that people tend to run slowly on the treadmill compared to outside (though they think they’re going faster).
Give Room For Indulgence Once In A While
In this case, there’s no need to fear weight gain that probably won’t resurface. Kim admitted that she indulges in fast food and churros from time to time, while Khloe via a shared photo of her eating Popeye’s, revealed that she indulges herself too. It stands to reason that a little cheat won’t hurt your fitness goals. It’s wise and healthy to indulge in some of your favorite treats with moderation, so as not to binge later and fall into guilt.
Drink Ghee First Thing
Kourtney on her website some time ago said: “Ghee is the first thing I put in my body every morning. I take one big teaspoon of ghee every morning and melt it on the stove in a pan and drink it out of a cute little ceramic white cup.” After downing the teaspoon, she doesn’t take anything else for about 20 minutes. After that, she takes a glass of water before setting out to real food. What then is ghee? Ghee, which originated from Indi,a is a variant of clarified butter. The type of fatty acids in it is said to be good for the heart, as it aids digestion better than American butter. However, there doesn’t yet exist scientific evidence that shows that it has any distinct health benefit. Just remember, a quantity of fat is good, but too much is dangerous.
