When celebrities like Kaley Cuoco reveal their baby’s face and name right after their born, it feels a little strange. That’s because we are so used to the new trend of celebrities waiting to share every little detail about their new addition. It’s so common, Keke Palmer even made a joke about it in her own baby announcement when her firstborn son Leodis was born. She wrote in part, “‘I’m not hiding the world from my son, I’m hiding my son from the world.’ Hahaha.” She clarified that she was just joking: “I’m just playing, my baby face is on this slide.”
Whether A-listers do it to protect their privacy, build up suspense, or any other reason, there’s no doubt that it does make us curious. Will Khloe Kardashian wait a full year to reveal her baby boy’s name like her sister Kylie Jenner did? Did Taylor Swift give any hints to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynold’s fourth baby’s name? What did Rihanna and A$AP Rocky name their adorable toddler — and what do they have planned for baby number 2?!
While many celebrities plan to share their baby’s names eventually (*fingers crossed* for Rihanna!), others seem to be holding on to their children’s privacy for as long as possible, like Rachel McAdams, who still hasn’t revealed the name of her son born in 2018 or her daughter born sometime after 2020.
It’s a personal decision whether or not to share details about your baby’s face, name, or anything else, but still… We are impatiently waiting to hear the names of our favorite A-listers’ babies. Keep reading to see celebrities who have waited to share their baby’s name with the world, including some (very valid!) reasons why they did.

Rihanna & A$AP Rocky
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are currently expecting baby number 2 together, but they still haven’t revealed the name of their firstborn son, born in May 2022. Despite sharing adorable videos of the baby boy on Instagram, they are staying mum about his name.
In an interview with Vogue UK in Feb. 2023, Rihanna opened up about becoming a mother. “Oh, my God, it’s legendary. It’s everything. You really don’t remember life before, that’s the craziest thing ever,” she explained. “You literally try to remember it — and there are photos of my life before — but the feeling, the desires, the things that you enjoy, everything, you just don’t identify with it because you don’t even allow yourself mentally to get that far, because… Because it doesn’t matter.”

Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds had the most epic baby name reveal, ever, with their third daughter Betty, 3, who was announced in a Taylor Swift song. The couple are also parents to daughters James, 8, Inez, 6, and a newborn baby, whose name and sex they have still not revealed. They announced the baby’s birth during the Super Bowl in a super subtle way, so they are either planning something really big for the name reveal or something completely casual.

Adam Levine & Behati Prinsloo
Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo are parents to Dusty Rose, 6, Gio Grace, 5, and a newborn, whom they welcomed in Jan. 2023. However, they have not revealed the name, gender, or face of their newest little one yet despite showing teasers of the baby on social media.

Joe Jonas & Sophie Turner
Since confirming the arrival of their second daughter in July 2022 via a rep, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have remained tight-lipped about the baby girl’s name. They are also private with their firstborn daughter Willa, 2. In fact, she shared never-before-seen pregnancy photos in Jan. 2023, 6 months after her baby was born. So it could be that they are just taking their time before they share the name and/or photos of their daughters.

Priyanka Chopra & Nick Jonas
When Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s daughter Malti Marie was born in Jan. 2022, they kept her picture and name a secret for a while. “We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family,” they said in a statement on Instagram. Three months later, TMZ revealed the baby was named Malti Marie Chopra Jonas; however, the couple didn’t confirm their daughter’s name until May 2022.
“On this Mother’s Day we can’t help but reflect on these last few months and the rollercoaster we’ve been on, which we now know, so many people have also experienced. After 100 plus days in the NICU, our little girl is finally home. Every family’s journey is unique and requires a certain level of faith, and while ours was a challenging few months, what becomes abundantly clear, in retrospect, is how precious and perfect every moment is.”
She added, “We are overjoyed that our little girl is finally home, and just want to thank every Doctor, nurse and specialist at Rady Children’s La Jolla and Cedar Sinai, Los Angeles, who were there selflessly every step of the way. Our next chapter begins now, and our baby is truly a badass. Let’s get it MM! Mommy and Daddy love you.”

Rachel McAdams
Rachel McAdams and boyfriend Jamie Linden became parents in 2018, although they didn’t announce their son’s name or reveal his face. She told The Sunday Times U.K., “I want to keep his life private, even if mine isn’t. I’m having more fun being a mum than I’ve ever had. Everything about it is interesting and exciting and inspiring to me. Even the tough days — there’s something delightful about them.”
Later, she was pregnant again in 2020 and has since given birth to a daughter. Like her son, McAdams hasn’t revealed her daughter’s name. She told Access Hollywood about filming Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret, “I’m excited for my own little girl to see it one day.” She added, “There were scenes where I couldn’t stop crying thinking about my daughter going through these things one day. How beautiful and strange it is.”

Khloe Kardashian
Khloe Kardashian welcomed a baby boy via surrogate in Aug. 2022, but she still hasn’t publicly revealed his name. In an April 2023 appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, she shared more details about her decision to wait.
“Yes, he’s named, but I haven’t announced it yet,” she said. Kardashian also confirmed one major detail about his name: “It will start with a T,” she explained, which is just like his older sister True, 5, who Kardashian also shares with Tristan Thompson.
The Kardashians star continued, “So, originally, he was delivered via surrogate — or the stork, I like to say — and at first, I really did not know what I was going to name him. I wanted to meet him and feel him out a little bit. And so at first, he didn’t have a name.”
“Then, he’s been named,” she confirmed. “But I’ve been waiting for the premiere of our show, and I didn’t know it was going to be this far out. So now I’m just like, if my daughter outs me, I’m screwed.”

Kylie Jenner
Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott announced the name of their baby boy was Wolf soon after he was born in Feb. 2022, but they quickly changed their minds.
In March 2022, Jenner wrote on her Instagram Story: “FYI our son’s name isn’t Wolf anymore. We just really didn’t feel like it was him. Just wanted to share because I keep seeing Wolf everywhere.”
Since then, they kept quiet about his new name and didn’t reveal photos of his face, despite their daughter Stormi, 5, featuring prominently on social media. Almost a year later, the Kylie Cosmetics founder shared the first look at her baby’s face and revealed his new name. “AIRE ?,” she wrote on Instagram.

Cardi B & Offset
Cardi B and Offset are parents to daughter Kulture, 4, and son Wave, 1. The duo kept fans on their toes for their son’s name, though, only revealing it when he was 7 months old.
“WAVE SET CEPHUS,” Cardi B captioned the post, which revealed her son’s face (and unique fashion sense!) for the first time.
In the May/June 2022 issue of Essence, the couple opened up about the secrecy.
“We went through a lot of sad things when it comes to [our daughter] Kulture — terrible behavior that not even the older kids have ever been through,” explained Cardi. “So many people will post mean, disgusting things, just to get a reaction from us. We want to protect our feelings, because we get very, very angry and upset.”

Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney welcomed their first child in Feb. 2022, but she waited until the Sept. 2022 cover of Vogue to confirm that he was a baby boy named Cy, who they named after the postwar American painter Cy Twombly, one of Maroney’s favorite artists.
“It’s so scary to talk about motherhood,” she told the outlet. “Only because it’s so different for everybody. If I say, It was amazing from the start, some people will think, It wasn’t amazing for me at first, and feel bad. Fortunately I have so many girlfriends who were honest. Who were like, It’s scary. You might not connect right away. You might not fall in love right away. So I felt so prepared to be forgiving. I remember walking with one of my best friends at, like, nine months, and being like, Everyone keeps saying that I will love my baby more than my cat. But that’s not true. Maybe I’ll love him as much as my cat?”
She went on, “The morning after I gave birth, I felt like my whole life had started over. Like, Now is day one of my life. I just stared. I was just so in love. I also fell in love with all babies everywhere. Newborns are just so amazing. They’re these pink, swollen, fragile little survivors. Now I love all babies. Now I hear a baby crying in a restaurant and I’m like, Awwww, preciousssss.”
